PRE-REQUISITES & SEQUENCE.
 
ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be accepted into the program: -
 

1. Must be 20 years and over or upon assessment by entrance committee

2. Must be able to read and speak the English Language.

3. Must be in good general health, no communicable diseases.

4. Good police and character record.

5. Must possess High School Leaving certificate or Secondary or Other Certificates preferably with a science subject. 5 G.C.E or C.X.C subjects and/or Advance (A1) levels.

6. An applicant without number five (5) criteria would meet with the admissions committee for a personal interview to determine suitability of the applicant - maturity, passion for massage and other criteria to the committee.
 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS.

Application forms must be submitted together with the following documents: -

• A brief biographical sketch with the reasons you want to train as a massage therapist and your philosophy of health care

• A brief description of you as your best friend would describe you.

• Two (2) identifiable, original and recent photograph

• A copy (1) of your High School Certificate (CXC or Cambridge O'level orA'level); or

• A $100 registration fee made payable to the T & T College of Therapeutic Massage or TTCOTM & BCL.

Upon acceptance you will be required to sign an enrollment agreement.
 
SEQUENCE

 

We start with the history of massage therapy, then progress on to the knowledge foundation of Human Anatomy and Physiology (structure and function of the body) relevant to massage, the basic techniques used in therapeutic massage and once these skills are developed the students are introduced to the more difficult strokes; allied modalities.  An understanding of the fundamentals of the theory is required before the student can move on to the other topics or on to the practicals, with the objective of attaining a desired level of competency in the program.                       An example of how the classes are sequenced:  First there is a general discussion of the fundamentals of the nervous system, which leads to understanding the functions of the nervous systems., which leads to pathology of the nervous system, which leads to contraindications for application of massage.  In this way the student is mastering the skills progressively which prepares the student to be a competent professional.
